La Maison des Vignerons

A journey through time

Where every element tells home

In 2005 we decided to restore an old family home following only the deepest sensations and emotions to be able to create a place capable of transmitting that strong “sense of home” to the guest.

The pleasant difficulty of the restoration was to be able to immerse oneself in the times, customs, head and hands of that farmer, bricklayer, craftsman who created, centuries ago, these wonders where every stone has a story to tell.

Atmospheres of earth

When
the materials
they become
memory

As well as the recovered larch chamber floors, brushed, treated, and rested, the floors in handmade terracotta tiles, one by one, irregular, harsh, but incredibly warm, or even the old fireplaces, stone walls, and stone vaults in the old stables… strong, primitive presences that, alone, convey emotion.

And so on until the mighty load-bearing walls, crooked and of “uncomfortable” dimensions that make you lose a lot of space, but repay you with their imposing presence only softened by the lime colours with which the plasters that envelop them are imbued.

Here is the “leather” of the house, those lime-based plasters as they used to be, deliberately applied without a ruler with the small trowel and those soft, rounded corners that create particularly evocative atmospheres.

Stone, wood, terracotta, iron, lime, natural colours, preserved elements and new interventions, all designed to create a light atmosphere of relaxation and welcome where everyone can find the space to establish their own personal relationship with things, sounds and silences, the simple and humble nature of a place where the earth was at the center of a whole system of life that it took from it and brought to it in every form, in every circumstance.
